iPhone store surpasses 5 billion downloads

At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June, as well as revealing that Apple approves 95% of iPhone apps Steve Jobs claimed that, since its inception two years ago, there have now been more than 5 billion downloads from Apple's iPhone app store.

Referring to the store as “the most vibrant app community on the planet”, Steve Jobs went on to detail some of the apps that will soon be available to download. These will include a Netflix application that will use adaptive technology to allow instant switching between Wi-Fi and 3G connections and iPhone apps for Guitar Hero and Farmville.
