The Internet contributes £100 billion to the UK economy every year, of which 60% comes from Internet consumption such as online shopping, a new study has revealed.
Commissioned by Google and conducted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the study found that the Internet accounts for 7.2% of the UK's gross domestic product (GDP).
The study also revealed that for every £1 that is spent online to import goods in the UK, £2.80 is exported, making the UK the world's leading nation for e-commerce.
