SMEs sell more online

In a blog last week, we reported that a study , commissioned by Google and conducted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), has found that the Internet contributes £100 billion to the UK economy every year.

As part of their research, the BCG conducted a survey of more than 900 British small to medium sized businesses and found that businesses who actively use the Internet to sell and market their products and services experience four times the sales growth of businesses who have a limited or no online presence.

According to the BCG’s research, over the past three years, overall sales for businesses who sell or market their goods or services online grew by 4.1% annually. Over the same time period, businesses that have a website or social media site but do not actively sell or market online and businesses that have no web presence experienced growth of only 0.6% and 0.5% respectively.

The survey also found that businesses that actively use the Internet have a much larger international presence.

We have the expertise and the experience to help small to medium sized businesses achieve rapid growth and reach international audiences through online sales and marketing. To find out more, click here.
