According to Ericsson, more than 500 million people around the world now subscribe to mobile broadband services. However, the telecoms manufacturer has predicted that this figure will double in 2011.
Fuelled by the growing popularity of smartphones and tablets and the attraction of faster network speeds, Ericsson believes 400 million people in the Asia-Pacific region will subscribe to mobile broadband this year, with North America and Western Europe each possessing more than 200 million subscribers.
