A new Forrester report has found that a decreasing number of consumers are only using search engines to find websites and, as a result, search marketing is broadening to include other media.
According to the report, only 61% of consumers rely on traditional search engines to find websites, which is down from 83% six years ago. Instead, more and more consumers are finding websites through user-generated content, applications and peer recommendations, as well as via search engines.
With this trend set to continue, the report suggests that, in the future, search marketers will need to use multiple media to help users find products and brands.
