Following the news that record numbers of the Apple iPhone are being sold around the world, new sales figures show that Apple is now the leading smartphone manufacturer in western Europe.
According to the IDC European Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report, Apple now has a 21% share of the smartphone market, placing it ahead of Nokia, the previous long-term leader. Conversely, Nokia has seen its share of the smartphone market drop from 75% in 2005 to 20% in the first quarter of 2011.
