Google+ still alive

Google has dropped seven products that have failed to have an impact on web users, but is persisting with its social media site Google+.

In a bid to streamline its services, the search giant has axed products such as Google Wave, Google Gears, Google Friends Connect and Knol.

However, Google has no plans to shelve Google+, despite reports that public interest in the site has waned.

The social media site attracted 40 million users within 100 days of its launch. However, according to the web analytics firm Chitika, Google+ traffic is down 60% and Google has not revealed how many new users have signed up since mid-October.

But despite this, Google claims it is just getting started with Google+ and aims to use the site to build a social layer across its entire product line, which includes Gmail, YouTube and Blogger.

We can help you use social media to reach new digital audiences and grow your business.
