Statistics published by IMRG have revealed that UK consumers are increasingly using mobile devices to visit online stores and purchase products and services.
At the start of 2010, only 0.4% of all total online purchases were made using a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet. However, in the third sales quarter of 2011, 3.9% of all online purchases were made using a mobile, while 8.2% of all visits to an online retail site were on a smartphone or a tablet.
IMRG also believe that revenue generated through smartphones will increase from 3.3% in 2011 to 6.6% by 2013.
