According to a report by the analyst company Strategy Analytics, 67 million tablets were sold worldwide last year. That represents a year-on-year increase in sales of 260%.
In their report, Strategy Analytics also state that the Apple iPad is still the market-leading
tablet, with a 58% share of the tablet market in the last quarter.
However, tablets by providers such as Motorola, Samsung and HTC are gradually cutting into the iPad’s market lead and, as a result, tablets that run on Google's Android Operating System now have 39% of the market.
